Prevention & readiness
Are you prepared?
The first minutes make the difference. What we teach in our training sessions, in a few lines — before, during and after an emergency.
01Before
- Clear dry grass and branches within 10 metres of your home.
- Keep a garden hose that reaches every side of the house.
- Never light fires outdoors, never throw away a cigarette.
02During
- Call 112 or 199 immediately and give your exact location.
- If told to evacuate, leave at once by the route the authorities set.
- If trapped, get inside a building, shut doors and windows, cover nose and mouth with a wet cloth.
03After
- Return only when the authorities allow it.
- Check for smouldering spots around the house.
- Watch out for fallen cables and burnt trees.
